Proton Therapy and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital saved my son's life
Meet Ian. At 16 months old he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor settling behind his right eye. After 2 surgeries and 4 rounds of chemotherapy the tumor persisted. He was being treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, when it was suggested that he try proton beam therapy. This was in 2010. At the time St. Jude did not have a treatment facility, so Ian visited UF Health Proton Therapy Institute in in Jacksonville, FL.
Since Ian's last proton therapy treatment in 2010, he has been cancer free. During his stay with St. Jude his family did not get a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. They are encouraging people to support St. Jude so they can continue to help children in the same way that they received support.
