Proton U App for Kids

The University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute has designed an interactive storybook app just for pediatric patients and their families to help with preparation for proton therapy. The app, which is currently available through iTunes for iOS, follows the character, Jefferson, as he navigates the center and explains the treatment process. Dr. Danny Indelicato, UF Director of Pediatric Radiotherapy, mentioned, "by introducing pediatric patients to the sights, sounds, and experience of our proton center through playful interaction, Proton U may reduce anxiety and fear".

UF partnered with Flagler University's design school and a local mobile developer to create the app. You can read a little more about the development from the team at http://awards.ixda.org/entry/2016/4051/ where they won an interactive award in 2016. A short video is linked below that gives a little detail into what it meant for the development team.
