Chris Chandler, MBA, MHS
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Chandler has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry ranging from front line clinical experience in laboratory medicine to significant operational and project development positions in both private and academic settings. Mr. Chandler established himself in the healthcare management setting as an HMO developer at the Blue Cross Blue Shield system in Florida. He became intimately involved with healthcare finance and reimbursement. Leveraging his insurance experience, Mr. Chandler followed with executive level roles in academic medicine. He operated the Department of Pathology for the School of Medicine at the University of Florida and served as the Administrator of the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at the University of Louisville, where he guided a multidisciplinary academic cancer program. Later in his career, Mr. Chandler developed a national network of medical oncology centers. Before joining ProCure, Mr. Chandler successfully developed several major proton therapy programs as the Vice President and General Manager of IBA Proton Therapy in North America. With ProCure Mr. Chandler has developed , opened and operated 4 additional Proton Centers. Mr. Chandler holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, A Master of Science and A Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration all from the University of Florida.
Ron Gilden, MBA
Ron Gilden is responsible for ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to all Proton International projects. Ron also manages the structuring of our client and supply chain partnerships He has 30 plus years of experience in cancer center development and operation, an in depth understanding of UK cancer care delivery within both the NHS and private sector, and 4 years of experience in the coordination of UK NHS patient referrals for proton therapy.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Davis is responsible for finance, accounting, legal, tax, and treasury. He has developed banking relationships and obtained project based financing for projects in Latin America and Europe. Mr. Davis is also responsible for analysis of project feasibility, deal structure, and operating results. His primary skills and expertise are Strategic Planning and Organizational Leadership, Financial Modeling and Profitability Analysis, Contract Negotiations and Strategic Alliances, Ability to Communicate of Key Financial Issues Throughout Organization, and 18 years of healthcare experience.
Pete Carbone, MBA, CHFM, CHC, LEED Green Associate
Senior Vice President: Facility Development
Pete Carbone, Senior Vice President for HTI Cancer Centers / Proton International, is a seasoned professional with over 25 years’ experience in the Real Estate Development, Design and Construction field. He currently is responsible for a range of development initiatives including Facility Development, Construction and Design. Pete joined HTI Cancer Centers / Proton International in 2013 and was drawn to the company because of the mission to increase the availability of cancer treatment and proton therapy to the many patients who can benefit from advanced treatments and therapies. Prior to joining HTI Cancer Centers / Proton International, Pete spent the past 18 years in the design and development departments of several Hospitals and Healthcare Systems in South Florida in addition to most recently leading the Facility Development at ProCure Treatment Centers helping bring proton therapy to four major cities in the USA. He is a veteran of leading major projects and has collectively managed over $2.5 billion in total projects. He has also worked for a major oil company for 6 years as Construction and Maintenance Engineer and spent 5 years active duty in the United States Air Force as a Construction Engineer. He is also a registered General Contractor, a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and a Certified LEED Green Associate. Pete has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Norwich University and a Masters of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.
Jay Beranek, MS
Vice President of Construction
Mr. Beranek has more than 37 years of experience with Healthcare and highly technical Facility Design, Construction, Programing, and joined PI in February 2014. Previously and most recently he was responsible for the successful design/construction/occupancy of four Proton Cancer Treatment Centers for Procure in the United States each valued between $30M-$35M- more than any other single entity worldwide He now leads the design and construction management for the new Proton Center at University Medical Center in Groningen, The Netherlands for PI. He has developed new project and program delivery processes and instilled them into the Design Build Teams processes that redefine “successful project delivery”. This new process results with Team members that develop a specific culture that manages with precision AND has fun at the same time. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Construction Management and also from Indiana University with an MS in Business and Public Management.
Director of Operations and Finance
Charles Yoo is a project manager for Proton International’s current and future clients and endeavors. He oversees the life cycle of each project. This includes: feasibility analysis; modeling and financial structuring; oversight of projects under development; and operational advisory services. Charles has 16 years of financial experience with private companies and government involving research, analysis, forecasting and capital markets. Prior to joining Proton International, Mr. Yoo gained over 3 years of proton expertise in center finances and operations at the CDH Proton Center near Chicago, Illinois, the 9th U.S.-Based proton facility. Mr. Yoo holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration with Concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Director of Patient Referrals
With years of experience coordinating the interests of public institutions and the private sector, Jeremy oversees the development of new facilities around the world. He works directly with our Country Managers to maintain an open line of communication and ensure that all projects remain both on schedule and on budget. Jeremy is also the head of our International Referral Program which offers our partners the ability to have their patients treated with protons in the United States while their own centers being developed.
Kristen Chandler Powers, MSW, MPH
Director of Sales and Marketing
Mrs. Powers, who serves as Director of Domestic Sales & Marketing with Proton International, has more than 10 years experience in the health care industry. She is responsible for the coordination of development of Proton International's centers, from contract drafting to first patient. Her Masters in Public Health and Social Work help her to ensure the most cost-efficient projects for Proton International's clients. Kristen's other responsibilities include sales, management of social media, website development, and marketing efforts worldwide.
Paul is an architect with over 23 years in the healthcare design sector and is skilled in healthcare design standards and innovation in the sector. Paul utilizes these skills for Proton International’s radiotherapy and proton projects by carrying out the initial design concept , coordinating with design and construction teams, budgeting and programming and transitioning into project management and project administration through to completion. This role includes design coordination of all aspects of specialist technical equipment.
Director of Business Development
Mr. Adams joined Proton International in February 2018 to bring his 30 + years of experience in Nuclear Physics, Medical Imaging and Proton Therapy Center Development. Mr. Adams was one of the cofounders of a Positron Corporation that provided PET systems for The N.I.H. & MD Anderson in the development days of PET, Part of the Management team of Elscint, Inc in Haifa, Israel and a member of The Nuclear Medicine & PET Management team at GE Healthcare. Mr. Adams has a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Mr. Adams worked with PI on 3 proton center developments, as a Sales Director for Varian.
Providing techonology solutions for projects and operational needs, Mr. Barbosa is responsbile for the IT in development and implementation for many of Proton International's endevours. With 6 years of the experience in MES as a manager at St. James's Institute of Oncology and in clinical start-up for a private clinic in the UK, Andrew contributes towards PI's networking, communications, marketing strategy, and operational contracts.
Mehmet Kucuk, MS
Eastern Europe - Regional Manager
Mr. Mehmet Kucuk is responsible for developing new business in Turkey and in Eastern Europe. Since he began working with Proton International in 2014, he has actively built proton awareness among radiation oncologists as well as public health care leaders in the region. Mehmet held managerial positions for multinational companies like Unilever and Henkel in Turkey, Spain, Poland, Central Asia, Russia and Romania for over 23 years before moving onto medical sector. He was the General Manager of the Turkish distributor of Swedish based Elekta Radiotherapy business in Turkey before his current position. Mehmet has a BA degree in Business from Bosphorus University and an MS degree in Marketing from Northern Illinois University.
Italy - Country Manager
Wynn Gabriel joined Proton International as Country Manager in 2013. He has more than 22 years experience in Public Relations and is responsible for finding opportunities while introducing Proton Therapy in Italy.
Italy - Director of Operations
Cristina Chiesa Alhadeff has served as Director of Operations for Proton International in Italy since 2013. Graduating from the Public University in Milano with a degree in Biology, she has been working in healthcare for 15 years. Her work experience has given her the knowledge and contacts to provide centers with accurate information for radiotherapy departments to assess proton therapy in Italy.
Germany - Country Manager
Peter Dehn, born June 8, 1944 in Berlin, studied Political Science in Berlin and as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Texas in Austin. Diploma in Political Science. He has 25 years of public office on the local level and as a member of the State Legislature in Lower Saxonia. He is cofounder of the German-American Council of State Legislators, “Partnership of Parliaments”. In his now 25 years as a business consultant he advised American companies in Russia. He oversaw organizing the completion of the Heart Surgery Center Bakoulev Institute in Moscow with US and German companies. In the last five years, he has focused on the development of proton therapy in Germany. Peter Dehn joined Proton International as Country Manager for Germany early 2016.
